Political Declaration: World leaders pledge to achieve 50/50 gender equality by 2030.
Her Excellency, Justina Mutale one of the Representatives of the UK Civil Society delegation to the 59th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW59) in New York, joined His Excellency, Sir Mark Lyall Brant, United Kingdom Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations at a CSW Reception in honour of the UK Civil Society delegation. Thereafter, Justina joined the Zambian First Lady, Mrs Esther Lungu together with Zambia's female Vice-President, Inonge Wina and Zambian Minister for Gender & Child Development, Professor Nkandu Luo at a Dinner held in honour of Zambians in New York.
"Having marched with the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the First Lady of New York (and shouted one of the loudest!) in the New York International Women's Day March for Gender Equality and Women's Rights." says Justina.
"Among all the other activities at the 59th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (59th UNCSW) in New York, I was thrilled to join Meryl Streep, Freida Pinto, Vital Voices and Plan International and many others on the red Carpet at the US Premiere of "INDIA 'S DAUGHTER". I'm even more thrilled that the film will be followed by a robust discussion on one of the greatest outstanding and pertinent issues of the 21st Century - securing the human rights of women and girls around the world."
